Yes.

My interpretation of the "doctor" is someone who is rather pompous of himself but isn't that great at what he does. So if a patient dies he doesn't take it too personally and moves on to the next(hence the skulls) and that's what makes Roderic so special. He is someone he actually cares about.... I could be wrong but that's what I get.

Text in background says: "Dear Roderic, my dearest boy. I find it funny that you think apples will keep me away. Since, after all, I am a playboy doctor."
